IMHO the “medicalization” of the U.S. justice system’s capital punishment apparatus is a total farce. Execution is inherently violent and malevolent and no amount of bureaucratic performance meant to make it look like a clinical procedure can hide that. The grotesqueness of the guillotine is humane by comparison because of its immediate lethality.
