Alan Jacobs with what I think is a pointed word of wisdom–particularly to folks involved in academic, knowledge work, or influencers who have a large online following and who are concerned about the Federal government’s trajectory–on whether you need to stop what you are doing and focus full-bore on the Trump administration’s moves:

There’s always wisdom to be received when we compare other times and places with our own; but to tell stories about those other times and places only to make some point about NOW is to strengthen the walls of our presentist prison. That I won’t do.
