Treasury Direct should stay a super basic and super boring website.

Treasury Direct is collecting feedback from users on updating its user interface/user experience. Treasury Direct is one of those rare websites that still operates like its from the early 2000s and I think that’s totally fine. In fact, whenever I hear people make snide remarks about its functionality I think of the fact that every time you log out you can complete a satisfaction survey and usually over 90% of users who complete the survey are satisfied or very satisfied with the website.

I don’t think every website needs to have the slick sophistication of TikTok or Robin Hood. Treasury Direct does exactly what I need it to do and acts the same way every time I use it. I’m convinced it’s a great example of how sometimes user experience designers can create headaches in search of a “smoother” user experience. Sophistication and quality are not equivalent concepts when it comes to website functionality.
